Can you fill this out without lying?

can't sleep

I’m what you’d call a Facebook lurker. Every now and then, countless hours are spent skimming posts. I scroll, chuckling at memes, watching videos, reading article headlines (sometimes even clicking and reading the article), screenshotting positive affirmations, and reading people’s rants. Sometimes I fall down the rabbit hole of the comments of hot button or controversial posts, usually about sports or politics.

I rarely comment other than the crying-laughing emoji or LOL under funny videos or memes. Facebook is not how or where I communicate with people I have real relationships with. I have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, but Facebook is the only one set to private. Mind you, my Instagram and Twitter both feed into my Facebook account, but there are some things that I’ll write or post on Twitter, Instagram or even this blog that I would never share on Facebook. After they post to FB, I go and delete them. Most of the time, it’s because I feel silly (she’s posting about books again) or I have no interest in getting into debates with certain people who always feel the need to comment.

Facebook is my oldest social media account and I have the most followers there. Other than family, I’ve known most of my hundreds of “friends” for 20 or more years. I don’t stunt for social media. I have no problem being self-deprecating or posting somewhat unflattering pics, but I don’t like going too deep, even if it’s just one of these weird questionnaire posts that popped up in my feed a few times several months ago.

I usually don’t play these inquiry games, but what else am I to do at 4 am? #CantSleep

1. What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
A copper Moscow Mule mug. Sadly, it only contained room temperature water.

2. Where was your profile picture taken?
The profile picture for this blog was taken at Essence Street Style in Brooklyn a few years ago. For Facebook, as this quiz was intended: a cousin’s wedding in Delaware, also a few years ago.

3. Do you play Pokemon Go?
Nope, and no thank you.

4. Name someone who made you laugh today?
A friend at work.

5. How late did you stay up last night?
Probably 2 am. I can’t sleep at normal hours. Ever.

6. If you could move somewhere else, where would it be?
I already did it. My dream was to move from Boston to New York. (But Boston will always be home!)

7. Ever been kissed under fireworks?
Not yet. One day, I’m sure.

8. Who is your most observant friend?
I’m not sure.

9. Do you believe exes can be friends?
I believe it. It’s just never been the case for me.

10. How do you feel about Dr. Pepper?
Grossness, but the commercials are hilarious.

11. Who took your profile picture?
A stranger.

12. Who was the last person you took a pic of?
I took a screenshot of my goddaughter’s face while we were video-chatting last week.

13. Was yesterday better than today?
Both were pretty good. I went to lunch with a different friend on both days.

14. Can you live a day without TV?
Of course. I’ve done it plenty of times, especially when I visit family in Boston for weekend trips, but don’t ask me to go a day without music or reading. That ain’t happening.

15. If you could have any job/career, which would you choose?
I’d love an editorial career sprinkled with teaching/tutoring in writing and literacy. They will happen!

16. Are you a bad influence?
The fun answer would be yes, but, no, no I am not.

17. Can you Tag 10 friends you think would fill this out?
I would never do this on Facebook.
